Students Organize to Take Back the Night
At 8:00 p.m. on April 6, more than 60 students participated in The New School’s first annual Take Back the Night vigil on 13th Street.
Take Back the Night is a national organization that sponsors rallies and events against sexual and domestic violence on campuses and in communities around the country. According to their website, the events include “candlelight vigils, empowerment marches, and survivor
testimonials.”
The event began with a march from 65 5th Ave. and ended at the 13th Street building for a candlelight vigil. During the demonstration, marchers chanted “2, 4, 6, 8! No more violence, no more rape!”
